A Nabhutho Constellation of Two Sanskrit Films Are Bookending Indic Film Utsav 2022!

Indic Film Utsav 2022 is proud to announce two wonderful Sanskrit films – Sakuntalam and Bhagavadajjukam, both full-length feature films based on ancient Sanskrit dramas as our Opening and Closing Films.

We open the festival with Sakuntalam directed by Sri Dushyanth Sridhar, a well-known film director and expert on Hindu scriptures and texts having delivered lectures all over the world. Sakuntalam is based on Abhignanasakuntalam Kalidasa’s magnum opus. Our Closing Film is Bhagavadajjukam, directed by Sri Yadu Vijayakrishnan, a filmmaker, cinematographer and writer. He made several films on history and travel, before directing the award-winning Bhagavadajjukam which is based on Bodhayana’s 7th century Sanskrit drama. While this may be nabhutho, all trends in Sanskrit cinema indicate that this is certainly sabhavishyathi!
